Zero Balance Account (Kotak 811) Documents Required (Complete List)

Kotak 811 requires very few documents — just Aadhaar and PAN. But your Aadhaar must be linked to your current mobile number, and for Video KYC you need a few extra things ready.

Required Documents

Mandatory Documents

  • Aadhaar Card — must be linked to your active mobile number (for OTP verification)
  • PAN Card — number is required during application, physical card needed for Video KYC

For Video KYC (Recommended)

  • Original physical PAN card (to show on camera)
  • Blank white paper and a blue/black pen (for signing during the call)
  • Well-lit room with stable internet connection
  • Device with working front camera and microphone

Personal Information Needed

  • Active mobile number (for OTP and account registration)
  • Email address
  • Current address PIN code
  • Father's name (must match PAN card)
  • Mother's maiden name (used as security question)
  • Nominee details (name, relationship, DOB, address)

Who Cannot Open Kotak 811

  • Minors (below 18 years)
  • NRIs and foreign citizens
  • Existing Kotak Mahindra Bank customers (savings, current account, or loan holders)
  • Anyone without Aadhaar and PAN

Optional But Helpful

  • Bank passbook or cancelled cheque (for linking external accounts)
  • Income proof (may be asked in some cases, not usually required)

Tips to Avoid Document Rejection

  • Make sure your mobile number is linked to Aadhaar before starting — this is the #1 blocker
  • Keep your physical PAN card handy — e-PAN or digital PAN on DigiLocker works for number entry but you need the physical card for Video KYC
  • Do Video KYC immediately after opening — do not wait or you will hit limited KYC restrictions
  • Video KYC is available 8 AM to 11 PM, all 7 days — pick a time when you have good lighting and internet
  • Father's name must match exactly with PAN card — check before entering
  • Note down your Customer ID, Account Number, and CRN after account activation
  • Allow location access when asked — it is mandatory for Video KYC
